Partnership / LLP ITR Filing
File income tax returns for partnership firms and LLPs, including firm-level computation.
What's covered
- Partnership firms and LLPs file their income tax return on Form ITR-5, which is the return prescribed for firms, LLPs, AOPs, BOIs, co-operative societies, local authorities and artificial juridical persons.
- ITR-5 is not for individuals, companies or trusts — individuals use ITR-1 to ITR-4, companies file ITR-6, and trusts file ITR-7; using the wrong form leads to a defective return.
- The return captures income under every head — business or profession, house property, capital gains and other sources — so the firm's full income position is reported in one place.
- Filing is mandatory for firms and LLPs whether or not there is profit, and meeting the due date protects the firm's right to carry losses forward.
How we work
- 01
Finalise the firm's accounts
We prepare the profit and loss account and balance sheet, allow partner remuneration and interest within the limits of the deed, and reconcile the figures with Form 26AS and GST records.
- 02
Compute firm income and determine audit
We compute taxable income on ITR-5 and check whether a tax audit under §44AB is triggered, which decides the applicable due date for AY 2026-27.
- 03
File ITR-5 by the due date
We e-file the return — 31 July 2026 for non-audit cases, 31 October 2026 where audit applies, 30 November where transfer-pricing applies — with a belated or revised return possible up to 31 December 2026.
