Partnership Firm Registration
Register a partnership firm with a partnership deed for two or more co-owners sharing the business.
What's covered
- A partnership firm is governed by the Indian Partnership Act 1932, under which two or more partners share ownership on the terms set out in a partnership deed.
- The firm may be registered with the state Registrar of Firms (in Telangana, the state Registrar of Firms) or left unregistered — registration is optional.
- A registered firm gains the right to sue to enforce its contractual rights, which an unregistered firm cannot; for this reason registration is generally recommended.
- Partners carry unlimited joint liability, and the firm files its own income-tax return separately from the partners.
How we work
- 01
Draft the partnership deed
Prepare the deed on stamp paper setting out capital contributions, profit-sharing ratios and partner roles, and have it notarised.
- 02
Apply for the firm PAN and operating registrations
Obtain a PAN in the firm's name and take GST, Udyam or Shops & Establishment registration as the activity requires.
- 03
Register with the Registrar of Firms (optional)
File the application with the state Registrar of Firms — typically completed in 7–10 working days; this step is recommended because it makes the firm's contractual rights legally enforceable.
